One last look

Ok, so it has been a really long time since my last post and I apologize for that!

I decided to take a bit of time off from the semi-nudes to focus on other areas of photography but I am back on board again!

I have some future clients booked for some new semi-nude shots so I promise to have some new stuff up with-in the next couple of weeks.

One Guy - 3 Looks

Usually when I photograph a model for a semi-nude I find that I need to try several different "Looks". One might work better than the other or they all might look great. Take the below 3 images for example.

Take the below 3 images for example. I love it when I can get 3 different looks with the same model while at the same time each image can project a different feeling or emotion from the viewer.

1st attempt at a Artistic Full Frontal Nude Image

Sorry everyone that it has taken so long for me to get a new post on here! Life has been a bit busy! I'll just have to work harder at being more proactive!

So, this model wanted to have his image captured in a semi-nude shot and he was quite open to having a full frontal shot done as well. In fact, it was his hope and idea to have that done.

He told me that for his age (approaching his mid-40's) he was quite happy and comfortable with the way his body looked and has always wanted to have photos taken of himself this way. He also wanted to have this done before he got any older and his body went completely to hell!

While I think he has a long way to go before that happens I was more than happy to take a shot (pun intended) at it!

He mentioned that he really liked his Black Cowboy hat and asked if he should bring it.

I said, "Sure, I can work with that!"

I suggested that we go with the whole "Cowboy" theme and to also bring jeans and preferably and button-up shirt with the sleeves cut off along with cowboy boots to complete the outfit.

He also stated that he is a big fan of darker/shadowy images. I was more than happy to go with that as well.

The below is one if the first images I captured. I think it turned out quite well and he was more than
pleased with it,

While communicating with him about the "Cowboy" look he asked if he should bring along his
Riding Chaps!

Again, I said "Sure! I can work with that too!"

The below image was the result of combining the use of the Chaps in a full frontal shot.

I was concerned that, for sure I had now crossed over into the dark side "Porn" but after doing
some post processing work to the image I no longer thought so.

Again, the model loved the shot and stated that the images were turning out exactly the way he hoped that they would.

Who am I to argue with that!? What do you all think?

Fourth set of Images

I am now feeling pretty confident about the images I am capturing. I am making the attempt to take some of them to the next level, meaning perhaps, showing a bit more than I usually would and trying to achieve more of an Artistic feel. In the first image I show more of the backside and in the second image I am trying for a more "Artistic shot".

Third set of images

By now I am starting to feel more comfortable and confident in the images that I have been capturing.

The work is starting to become a bit more "Artistic."

The first type of prop I chose to use was a long length of chain. I've seen this used in a lot of photos from other photographers and they always had a "Fetish/Bondage" feel to me. I didn't want that same look. Chains to me represent strength. I think I captured that in the below images.

  

Here is another Model that came in for a photo shoot that I decided to use the chains on. He had this amazing tattoo that said "Love" right below his navel. I'm not sure why he choose that for a tattoo and I should have asked him. His personality was so kind and gentle that in my own mind "Love" must have been a very strong emotion for him which lead me to think "He is chained to Love". I tried to capture that in the image below.

Second set of images

As you will start to notice, the images are mainly of Men. My original thought was to concentrate on working with Men only for a short period of time first. This is such a female dominated area for photography I thought I would have a difficult time getting Men to come in to be photographed.

I was wrong about that.

When I placed an ad on Craigs List for male subjects for a "Trade for Print" photo shoot the response was quite high which lead me to think "How can I tap into this?" since clearly there was a desire there from many subjects.

I'm still trying to figure that one out.

While Men are more than willing to come in for a "free" shoot it is quite another thing to get them to pay for it. They want the images for themselves and when they don't need to pay for them their thought is, "Hell yeah, I'll do that!" Getting them to want to pay is a tougher nut to crack (no pun intended!)

I think society plays a large part in that.

Women pay to have sexy photos taken for their Husband/Boyfriend mainly I think because Men are such visual creatures. Women, while they can and do appreciate a Handsome/Sexy Man, are not stimulated visually the same way as Men. Can this be one of the reasons why most of the Men I photograph have been single? What would thier Wife/Girlfriend have said if he told her that this was what he was doing for her?

I need to investigate this further.

Something else to Ponder...Because Men are so visual, I thought that all, if not most, of the Male responses to my ad would be from Gay Men. Gay Men understand the need/appreciation for visual stimulation, or so I thought. 9 out of 10 Men that I have photographed have been Straight Men.

I'm still trying to figure that one out.
